About ASP

Established in 1991 as a not-for-profit corporation, After School Programs, Inc is South Florida’s leading provider of safe, affordable, quality after school and summer childcare programs for school-age children. ASP operates educational and recreational after school programs on-site at elementary schools throughout South Florida and has recently expanded to Baltimore City, Maryland, proudly serving thousands of children and families from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

We create an active partnership between the parents, children, school administration, program staff and the community, based on each school’s individual needs. Scholarships and grant funding are available to ensure that as many children as possible receive the academic and social benefits of a top-notch after school program. ASP receives millions of dollars in grant funding to operate after school programs and summer camps for children in low-income families. We are proud to serve these children, and to consistently meet or exceed all of the grants’ mandated outcomes for academic, physical, and social skill improvement.

After School Programs, Inc also offers financial support to its host schools for such important programs as the wiring of computer labs, the purchase of computer equipment and software, and other discretionary school improvement projects. In addition, ASP also provides programs to help improve student achievement, regularly receiving recognition and accolades for academic improvement, character education, and FCAT tutoring.

There are many after school programs available throughout South Florida, but they are not all alike. After School Programs, Inc is committed to providing safe, enriching, and enjoyable activities to all children and possesses both the experience and the expertise to deliver on its commitment. All After School Programs, Inc employees must meet the following requirements, as mandated by law:

  • Must pass FBI Level II screening
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be fingerprinted
  • CPR training and certification
  • 1st Aid training and certification
  • Must complete 40 hours of specialized child care training
  • 10 Hours of In-Service annually
  • Physical exam every 2 years
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a high school graduate

All After School Programs, Inc employees must go
ABOVE & BEYOND and meet additional requirements:

  • Specialized 3-Day orientation program
  • 5-Week management training based on Ken Blanchard’s writings – “One Minute Manager”
  • Team-building and motivational training – “Gung Ho”
